Learn to dance with one of the world’s most celebrated contemporary dance companies.  For this special all-ages, all-abilities dance class, participants will have the chance to learn moves from Mark Morris Dance Group company members and accompanied by live music. No experience is necessary - all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Founded in New York City in 1980 by artistic director and choreographer Mark Morris, the Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) has been called “the preeminent modern dance organization of our time” (Yo-Yo Ma).

Courtnee Roze - bandleader, producer, lyricist, writer, and percussionist - honors rhythm's place at the heart of the human experience and employs the drum as a life force.  A djembe and conga virtuoso, Roze has been a student of percussion since she was seven years old. Roze's catalogue of collaborators includes Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Cirque du Soleil, J. Cole, and Tony Award-winner Lachanze (The Color Purple). Currently Roze is on Broadway playing percussion for The Donna Summer Musical.

Whether composing music for the Royal Shakespeare Company, playing bass on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, hosting his Thurber Theater variety show at Joe’s Pub, or co-founding the smash YouTube channel CDZA, Michael Thurber’s musical voice defies genre and category.

Mariachi Herencia de Mexico
, an ensemble of students from Chicago’s immigrant barrios, is mariachi music’s most exciting newcomer. The group scored a surprise hit with their debut album of traditional Mexican music. “Nuestra Herencia” (Our Heritage), released May 16, 2017, hit #2 on the  iTunes Latin chart, defying a music industry trend and pointing to a revival in recorded mariachi music. The album scored a 2017 Latin GRAMMY nomination in the “Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album” category.
